Earlier this week, the weather played a large part in the daily activities of those residing in the mid-west.

Here in Greencastle, the temperature dropped to a near-record low for the date – 11 degrees below 0.  And, also was near a near-record “high” for the day – 1 degree below 0.  And, this happened not just one day, but two!

I know of several people who had made plans to conduct business at the bank or the courthouse on one of the two days.  However, they postponed their plans because of the cold temperatures.

When researching your ancestors, pay attention to what the weather was like during the time period that you are researching.  It could be that business was postponed because of the weather.  And, the business that you thought was conducted at the end of January, was really conducted at the beginning of February!
