Since I have researched much on this Wolter family, and I feel a little confused about what information I have, I think it is time to do a re-start on the research.

So, who was Miss Charlotte Wolter, who resided at 2125 S. 40th Avenue in Chicago, Illinois?

Already discovered is that in 1900, John Wolter (and Charlotte) resided at 692 West 20th Street in Chicago. And, in 1910, they resided at 2514 South 41st Court in Chicago.  In 1920, they resided at 2514 South Kedvale Avenue in Chicago, and in 1930 they resided at 4942 Barry Avenue in Chicago.

Is it possible that the address in the diary was written later – it was added in a later year?  It is necessary to check for other census records.

In 1940, John Wolter resided with his son, Elmer, in Canton City, Stark County, Ohio.  John was 80 years of age and a widow. He was born in Germany.  He was Naturalized.  On April 1, 1935, John resided in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. John was not a veteran, and he did not have a Social Security number.
