You have finally found the probate record of your great-great-grandfather! Congratulations!

Is there a bill-of-sale in the record? You know, the list of everything in the estate that was sold. If there is something such as this in the probate record, does the record tell you who it was that purchased the item? If so, make sure to investigate the person. Many times, family members bought the item – they wanted to keep the item “in the family”. The relative may or may not have had the same last name as the deceased.
