You have finally found someone who has the same “seems to be hiding” ancestor!

This is a great find for you! However, the “hiding” ancestor is in an online tree. A few questions probably come to mind. First of all, are there sources for the information found in the tree? If not, what is the reason that the “hiding” ancestor is listed? Second, if the sources are there, have you contacted the owner of the tree to ask permission to use their information? It may have taken years and years to put together the information – would you want someone to “use” your information without giving proper credit? Thirdly, have you checked out the sources for the information? I know that there are times that I have incorrectly cited the wrong page number or misspelled a name – we all do that at one time or another!

Some things to think about!
