Don’t assume that your male ancestor married just once!

In my research, I have found a male ancestor with one wife in one census, and another in the next! Having checked middle names and “other” names, I have determined that one wife died and he married again before the next census.

One time, I found someone who had married another wife with the same first name! I originally thought that the census was wrong – the ages just didn’t make sense from one census to the next. However, when I found the obituary of the man, I discovered that he did indeed marry a second time to a woman with the same first name.

Be careful!
