Have you looked in all of the places where you may find a marriage record of your ancestor?

The first place that one tends to look is at the courthouse – usually in the County Clerk’s office. However, there may be other places to find a record. Did your ancestor marry in a church? It could be that the church has a record as well. And, what about the newspaper? There may be a record there as well. And, what about a pension record? Many times the marriage date is mentioned in there as well!

So, don’t assume no marriage if the clerk does not have a record!
