Recently, I was researching a family who came from Italy to the U.S. in the early 1900’s. I was having quite a time finding the relatives of the “main” person.

I had found a probable relative who had immigrated a few years after the “main” person. I was hopeful that if I found that person’s naturalization record, other helpful information may be found. So, the naturalization record was found. There were two witnesses at the bottom of the record. So, I investigated each of them a little more. Turns out, one of the witnesses was the “main person’s” brother-in-law! What a find!

So, don’t be afraid to dig a little deeper in records.
