Have you ever had the research project of cataloguing family papers? And, after cataloguing, weaning as much information as possible from the papers? Have you found handwritten papers and typed transcriptions of the same papers? Have you found just typed transcriptions of papers?
Be careful when looking at the typed transcriptions. If possible, use only the original. (That is, unless you need the typed transcription to “clear up” some of the faint handwriting.) Typed transcriptions are just that – typed transcriptions. Mistakes may have been made when typing. However, if the original is what you have, you don’t have to wonder if everything is correct, as you are looking at the original!
