Orlow and Phenie Cordelia Jones Babcock were my great-great grandparents.

Daniel P. Babcock was born 1 February 1818 in Riga, Monroe County, New York. 1  “…his father died when he was 3 years old, and he was bound out to Elihu Burr, of Castile, in what was then Genesee Co., now Wyoming Co., N. Y.…”

According to History of Wyoming County, N. Y.2, “[during the year 1818] …Elihu Burr commenced building a grist-mill where the Hopkins mill now is, and built a log house near the Hopkins mill, …The events of 1819 were as follows:  …E. Burr completed the mill began the year before.”

Previously posted:  Elihu Burr is found in Perry, Genesee County, New York, in the 1820 Federal Census.3  As of 7 August 1820, in his household were 1 male 10-15, 1 male 26-44, 1 female 10-15, and 1 female 16-25.  Since there is no child about the age of Daniel in 1820, one would assume that he was not yet living in the household.

In 1850, Ellihu Burr is found in Schroeppel, Oswego County, NY.4  As of 6 August 1850, in the household are Ellihu (age 80, Miller, born Connecticut), Sally Parker (age 57 born Connecticut), and Laura Parker (age 30, value of real estate owned 800, born New York).

Also, according to the 1860 Federal Census Mortality Schedule, there is an Elihu Father of T. G. Burr, age 89, born Connecticut, died August, was a Miller, died of Old Age, and was ill 3 weeks.5

I have checked about a death certificate and obituary for Elihu Burr, and death certificate is not available for that time period.  I have checked for a newspaper obituary online at http://www.fultonhistory.com/fulton.html, and there is no obituary. Additionally, I have looked for a will for Elihu Burr at website http://www.sampubco.com/, and none is available.

More on next post!
